Privacy policy

MotorCorner B.V., trading as Motorcorner.nl, processes personal data of visitors and customers of this shop. This privacy policy sets out which data we process, for what purposes, on which legal basis, how long we keep it and what rights you have.

Personal data we process

• first and last name;
• address details;
• telephone number;
• email address;
• IP address;
• bank account number and other payment details;
• data about your activity on our website: pages visited, searches, basket and orders;
• data about your browsing behaviour across websites, only if you consent to marketing cookies;
• any other data you provide yourself, for example in your account, in correspondence or by telephone.

Special and/or sensitive personal data

Our shop is not aimed at visitors under the age of 16. We have no intention of collecting data about visitors under 16 without the consent of their parents or guardian, but we cannot verify a visitor's age. If you are convinced that we have collected data about a minor without that consent, contact Service@motorcorner.nl and we will delete it.

Purposes and legal bases

• Fulfilling your order — handling your payment, delivering the products and informing you about the status of your order. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• Your customer account — creating and managing an account in which you can find your details and orders. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
• Customer service — calling or emailing you about your order, return or question. Legal basis: performance of the contract and our legitimate interest in providing good service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
• Bookkeeping and legal obligations — keeping our accounts and retaining invoices. Legal basis: legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
• Newsletter and offers — sending our newsletter. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link.
• Analysing and improving the shop — measuring how our shop is used and tailoring our range accordingly. Legal basis: your consent for statistics cookies (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
• Advertising and remarketing — measuring the results of our advertising and showing you relevant ads through Google. Legal basis: your consent for marketing cookies (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). This processing only takes place after you have given that consent through the cookie notice; we no longer rely on a legitimate interest for it.
• Security and fraud prevention — protecting the shop, preventing misuse and investigating faults. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

Automated decision-making

We do not take decisions based on automated processing that have (significant) consequences for you.

How long we keep data

• Order, invoice and payment data: 7 years. We are required to keep those records under Dutch tax law; afterwards we anonymise the data.
• Customer account: for as long as you use it. An account unused for 7 years is anonymised; you can also have your account deleted sooner.
• Correspondence with customer service: 2 years after the matter is closed.
• Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe.
• Record of your cookie choice: 24 months, as evidence that we asked for consent.
• Cookies: this differs per cookie; the periods are listed in our cookie policy.

Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your data to third parties. We share data only where this is necessary to perform our contract with you or to comply with a legal obligation. With parties that process your data on our instructions we conclude a processing agreement, so that they maintain the same level of security and confidentiality. MotorCorner B.V. remains responsible for that processing.

We use the following processors:

• Payments: MultiSafepay B.V. and Pay.nl B.V. Which of the two handles your payment depends on the payment method you choose.
• Shipping: Sendcloud B.V. (shipping platform) and the carrier for your shipment, usually DPD.
• Email: Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (Amazon SES), for sending transactional email such as order confirmations.
• Hosting: Hetzner Online GmbH, with servers in Germany.
• Statistics and advertising: Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics, Google Ads and Google Tag Manager), only after your consent.

Transfers outside the European Economic Area

We keep your data within the European Economic Area as a matter of principle. For Google's statistics and advertising services, data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. That transfer is based on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google LLC has certified, supplemented by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and similar techniques

Our shop uses cookies and similar techniques. Necessary cookies are always placed: without them the basket, signing in and the protection of forms do not work. For preferences, statistics and marketing we ask for your consent on your first visit. Which cookies we place, who places them, for what purpose and how long they are kept is set out in our cookie policy.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" button at the bottom of every page. For each choice we record the time, the version of the cookie policy, the categories chosen and an irreversibly encrypted form (hash) of your IP address; we keep that record for 24 months and use it solely as evidence that we asked for consent. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a refusal of all non-essential cookies.

Google Analytics and Google Ads

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how visitors use our shop, and Google Ads to measure the results of our advertising and to be able to show you relevant ads elsewhere (remarketing). Both operate only after your consent for the relevant cookie category. We have IP truncation and Google's data processing terms enabled, and we have not permitted Google to use the data for other Google services.

What Google does with this data is set out in Google's privacy policy. You can turn off personalised advertising directly through My Ad Center.

Social media

Where our shop embeds buttons or plug-ins of social networks, these are only activated after you click them yourself. Without that click no data is sent to the network concerned. If you do click, that network processes your data under its own privacy policy.

Trusted Shops

Where our shop displays the Trustbadge of TRUSTED SHOPS GmbH (Subbelrather Str. 15C, 50823 Cologne, Germany), Trusted Shops records your IP address, the date and time and the volume of data requested in a server log file; those log files are overwritten no later than seven days after your last visit. Trusted Shops processes further data only if you use their services yourself after placing an order.

Newsletter

We send our newsletter only to people who have subscribed to it. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link; you can also unsubscribe through Service@motorcorner.nl.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data and to have it corrected or erased. You also have the right to have the processing restricted, to object to the processing, to receive your data in a common file format (data portability) and to withdraw consent you have given at any time. The easiest way to withdraw consent for cookies is through "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.

Send your request to Service@motorcorner.nl. To make sure we do not disclose data to the wrong person, we ask for a copy of your identity document with a request for access or erasure. In that copy, please black out the passport photo, the MRZ (the row of characters at the bottom of the passport), the document number and your national identification number. We respond as quickly as possible and in any event within four weeks.

If you are not satisfied with the way we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. As we are established in the Netherlands, that is the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens; you may also turn to the supervisory authority of the EU country where you live.

Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorised alteration. Among other things, all traffic with our shop is encrypted (TLS) and payment details are known only to our payment service providers. If you have the impression that your data is not properly secured, or you see signs of misuse, contact our customer service or email Service@motorcorner.nl.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may change this privacy policy, for example when we start using new services or when the law gives cause to. The current version is always on this page.
