Later came the somewhat heavier machine and great successes in the road race were achieved with this too. The four-strokes like the XS 650 twin-cylinder that came on the market in 1969 heralded a new era for Yamaha.

Yamaha today is one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world, with motorcycles in all classes and categories. And Yamaha has also been successful for years in Moto-GP. The brand has always been a leader in four-stroke enduro, off-road and all-road motorcycles.
